Apparently, Apple’s new marketing campaign is simply called “Get a Mac” and has 6 new ads with “The Office”-style humor poking fun at the obvious, so closely resembling the truth, and that’s why it gets a laugh. They’re very funny. I recommend watching them. When you visit the portion of the Apple website now hosting their new focus, (aptly titled, “Get A Mac”) you see the top characteristics separating your average new PC with your average new Mac. The highlights include virus protection, iLife software (for your digital life), an operating system ahead of it’s time (poking fun at how long it’s taking MS to get Vista operational), using iSight for video chatting (which is a big plus, and there’s no PC webcam on the market to match it), drivers pre-loaded with the OS, and the ability to create great home-movies easily in iMovie.

So I try and stay objective because I know not everyone uses or likes Macs, but I do. I love my Macs, and everything about Mac just works for me and works well. Knowing I prefer them isn’t going to make anyone turn their head, but perhaps seeing all these features lined up and knowing your next Dell won’t have any of these items may make you think about buying a Mac, setting up Boot Camp if you want to run Windows XP and have the best of both worlds.

sidenote: I recently was listening to a podcast and this tech guru was talking about how he thinks Boot Camp is Mac’s way back into the educational market. So many software companies have gone PC only that Mac’s aren’t as commonly used in schools as they once were. Now, with the ability to run both platforms and use the educational software and games you have, you can have an easy-to-operate, safe network of Macs running the software made to run on your PC.
